WhatsApp Policy

The WhatsApp group is a communication channel for members of the TechFems community who wish to communicate and receive updates about events. We will post info about upcoming events, reminders for important things such as signing up or if we need last minute info such as IDs, and updates such as location changes.

Admins

All members of the TechFems team are admins for the WhatsApp group and share the responsibility of managing the conversations and dealing with issues and answering questions. The TF team is in charge of handling messages, especially those  related to event management.

Who

Any woman who wants to be a part of the TechFems WhatsApp group can join regardless of their role or active status, and no one is obliged to be in the channel.

Joining

Women can join the WhatsApp channel by being invited directly by admins. They can also join by using the invite link which can be found in the Slack channel #welcome-new-members and the Event announcements.

Community guidelines

Participants of the group are free to message and ask questions, but our goal is to this as closely related to TechFems events as possible, i.e. messages regarding location, ticket cancellation or arriving later for an event. Our (many!) Slack channels can be used for other messages and questions. Anything deemed as spam or offensive will either be deleted by WhatsApp admin or communicated privately to decide case by case. When questionable messages are sent through WhatsApp, before designating the message as spam and deleting, admin can message the potential offender directly to discuss the intent of their message in order to arrive at a conclusion if the message belongs in the group or in another channel on Slack.

Event attendance

In the event that participants are unable to attend the event, they can write in WhatsApp that they cannot come anymore. In that case, the participant should cancel their ticket immediately so that the waitlist can be activated. The waitlist has priority in first attendance, so no ticket swapping should happen in WhatsApp.

Founded in October 2023, TechFems is a dynamic and inclusive initiative committed to empowering women+ in the tech industry. Our mission is to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and provide the support and resources needed for women and gender-diverse individuals to thrive in the world of technology.
